can we talk about how awesome Pythia was for a second? in the midst of a civilization ending civil war she left her people to document the journey of the 13th tribe for reasons unknown (unless they explained it in Caprica which I still haven't watched) but possibly in the hope that she could keep them tethered to the other 12 so they could one day reunite (which they frakking did!!) and not be lost to the stars forever. And then, after following them on that journey (and I guess sticking around for a while to watch them reconstruct their society since she described the Temple of Aurora) she went on her own pilgrammage back across the universe and made the journey all the way back to the twelve colonies, possibly alone but almost definitely without jump drive technology, to bring back word that the 13th had made a new home.
I don't need another remake of Battlestar (or whatever they're doing over at Peacock, if that project is even still alive), but I would absolutely be seated for a prequel about that journey.

OHH HELL YEAH STARCHILD FIC SOON?? Books front row seats SO idk if anyone asked this before BUT- What happens to the contestants in the starchild au? does mephone just.....leave or is this post ii17 because if yeah then.. Ahem Aside that! hyfin do you have any other au ideas :D
YEAH idk when cause it's a bit of a huge project but it's smth i'm really excited to start fully working on!
to answer your questions, the au takes place post-ii18, which DOES make things a little tough with the uncertainty of what happens, but regardless the contestants in this timeline get brought back from being erased.
after arriving, mephone and the shimmers didn't stay on inanimate planet for very long. after everything was resolved and the contestants were back, it was mostly finding a place in the real world for the ex-contestants to stay and working out how they would be able to implement themselves into society. (i talk a little about where they go here)
when the last few of the cast were preparing to boat off the island, mepad insisted mephone take up prime's offer and stay with the shimmers. things were still tense between mephone and a handful of the other ex-contestants, and though he didn't want to leave everyone, run away again, he knew it would be good for himself to move on to new things and let them live freely. especially when being on the island was causing him to be so hard on himself.
after a long conversation, mepad boarded the last boat, and mephone went back to the egg ship.

Checking Momo stuff for a reply, I wondered if his paralogue had any lolcalised stuff :
Tumblr media
The JP text is more explicit, Momo struggles with his "urges" to slaughter instead of the very sad "he suffered for his muderous past :'("
Billy's line in the localised script can be interpreted as them being glad they put an end to Momo's suffering, aka giving him a mercy kill, but in the JP!version it's inferred that the "ended it" doesn't mean Momo's life, but his urges - like "I'm glad we kille him so he won't struggle with his urges to slaughter people", but I'm still pissed it's seen as something good for Momo, and not, you know, good so no one else will die because a maniac killer was roaming in this forest.
Now comes the pot of tea :
Tumblr media
We still have this shit "blood of the beast no longer I now become human".
Fittingly for a paralogue native to Fraud's route, the difference between "beast and human" isn't spelled out, because you can drink a cup of tea while agreeing that Rhea is a cruel beast, but Maurice finally returned to being a "human", aka not a black beast on death, so Marianne isn't "beast blooded".
Which is even more hilarious when you consider what her crest is - yes Mary-Ann, you are "beast" blooded, rather "Nabatean" blooded even if Momo was/is/returned to his human form. And the verse dgaf about, idk, Poppy*, the Nabatean who was slaughtered by Maurice/used by Maurice to get his super-powers.
Less hilarious is the implication - in the jp text when the loc just went with a general sobfest for Momo's backstory - that Momo was struggling with his urges to slaughter...
When Nopes (sure it's a later thing, so it might count as a retcon?) reveals Momo was already slaughtering people right and left (and even potentially his own allies!), even back as a human!
So, when in his paralogue Momo goes :
My beastly blood is roused... You will not be able to stop me!
Is he actually "blaming" his urges to slaughter on his "beastly blood", aka, on Poppy??? Like, it's the Nabatean's fault if he wants to slaughter? Was he pulling the same shit back then during the WoH "oh noes, if I slaughter my allies and plant wild oats, it's not because of me being an asshole, but's the fault of that weird beast whose blood I drank!"
But hey, it's peak Fodlan writing, aka, victim blaming at its finest, and no one calling it BS.
*if the game won't give names to the Nabateans who became relics, I'll have to come up with something to talk about them lol

https://archiveofourown.org/works/58282759/chapters/162003175
Snippet:
“Who is there?” Turgon called, though it hardly mattered.
No-one would live.
The figure still stood unmoving, not answering his question.
“Show yourself!”
Again, his command went unanswered. But Turgon still lowered his sword. Whoever this was, whoever had chosen to disobey a direct order of their king, this was not the time to turn his sword on another elf.
Then the figure moved at last, drawing back his hood, and Turgon felt hot, sickening wrath boil in his guts.
“You!”
Turgon’s voice rose with his sword-arm, anger momentarily drowning out all fear and despair. That his nephew had the nerves to seek him out here after all that he had done, to disturb his final moments that he really rather would have taken to himself, when this was all Maeglin’s fault, when he had betrayed them, had betrayed Turgon’s love and trust, when he had treated him as a son…
“Have you come to finish this? Have you come to take down the king? Help yourself, then. I daresay dying through a sword is less uncomfortable than suffocating, or burning to death, or being crushed as the tower tumbles. But is that not a high price you pay for the satisfaction of personally taking my life, Maeglin? For there is no escaping this, not unless you trust in your master to rescue you!”
Turgon’s words seemed to have struck a nerve, for Maeglin screwed up his face as though in agony, and yelled back: “He is not my master! How… how can you say… he tortured me! He snatched me out of the mines, and imprisoned me and tortured me and threatened to… to kill everyone!”
Pity stirred in Turgon, though it did not as yet surmount his anger.
“And what difference does it now make? Everyone is dying right now. Did you expect him to show mercy? Did he promise you rule over my city, once I am dead? Idril’s hand against her will, once her husband and son are gone?”
Maeglin raised his arms above his face as though Turgon had aimed a blow at him, which again made Turgon wince. What use was it to vent his feelings at his nephew now? Maeglin would pay for his betrayal with his life, just as Turgon would, so was it not now time to be the wiser of them, and lay aside his wrath, and comfort his nephew when comfort was due?
He therefore sheathed his sword again, and stretched out a consoling arm towards Maeglin.
“Is your mother safe?” he asked hoarsely.
Fear still shimmered in Maeglin’s eyes, but he nodded nonetheless, which sent waves of relief through Turgon.
“I think so. I saw her with Idril and Glorfindel last, after Tuor had carried Eärendil away. I think they all… they all went to safety. The way that Idril designed.”
Now it was Turgon’s turn to nod, both to signal his understanding and his approval at Maeglin not talking aloud about Idril’s tunnel. No-one could know at this stage what the enemy could hear, where all his ears were hidden.
Somewhat to Turgon’s surprise, Maeglin did not seem consoled by Turgon’s gesture at all, rather the contrary. Tears were flowing freely over his sooty face now, and he tore at his hair, looking utterly, utterly forlorn.
“Maeglin…”
“I don’t deserve your comfort, uncle!” he screamed “You know not what I have done!”
“Of course I know what you have don…”
“No!” Maeglin screeched, looking quite deranged. “No, you do not. I… I tried to kill the boy. I thought… I thought that if I could get Tuor and Eärendil out of the way, I could…”
Dread filled Turgon’s insides like lead. Yes, he had long known about Maeglin pining for Idril, but he had largely ignored it, especially since his daughter had so clearly rejected her cousin. And if Maeglin had been a little cool towards Eärendil, well, Turgon had just assumed that his nephew was simply not comfortable around children. But never, ever, would he have thought Maeglin capable of murdering a child.
“Is he…”
Turgon’s voice failed him. He could not bring himself to ask.
“He is safe, I… I couldn’t. I saw Amil approaching with Idirl, and couldn’t. I set him down, and Tuor snatched him up and they all disappeared. Which surprised me. I thought Tuor would kill me for sure.”
“I am glad he did not.” Turgon whispered, his voice all but failing him.
It was getting ever hotter and more difficult to breathe through the thickening smoke. It would not be long now, and he was getting weary. This idle wait for his death worse than seeking it in battle.
Turgon therefore let himself slide to the floor by the window, hoping that the little bit of fresh air would make suffocating a little more bearable. Maeglin still stood unmoving, and Turgon held out an arm in a silent invitation, and sighed in relief when Meaglin tentatively accepted it and sat down beside him. He could really do with some company just now.
“Why do you do this? Why are you not shouting at me, or duelling me or… have you not understood what I have just told you?”
“Because I meant what I said. I truly am glad that Tuor did not lay hand on you.”
“How though? Don’t you wish I had never come to Gondolin?”
The incredulity in Maeglin’s voice made Turgon’s heart clench.
“No. I am glad you are here now, and I am glad that you were and are a part of my life. You made a mistake, a huge and costly one, but I am still glad to know you. How could I not be, with you being my sister’s only child? Aredhel and I were always close. We fought, a lot, driving your grandparents up the walls. But… I would always help her sneak out with Celegrom to hunt, and she would make sure that nobody made fun of my drawings and buildings of stone.”
“You enjoyed designing cities even as a child?”
“Oh yes. I do not remember it, but my mother always said that I would leave small towers of rocks throughout the house when I was but a babe, under the table, on the stairs. She could track me by them. And as I got older, my buildings became more complex. And your mother, regardless of how mad she was at me, would never touch my designs.”
“Was that why she came with you to Gondolin?”
Turgon sighed.
“Yes. And you know, had I been a little less selfish, I would have discouraged her. I planned this city, this kingdom to be hidden, secluded. And Aredhel is the person who least likes to be confined, or just live in one place for longer. She could never have been happy here. That was why I let her go in the end, even if it was with great forebodings.”
For a while, neither of them spoke. The shouts and screams from inside the tower were getting quieter now, as people were overcome by smoke and fire in the lower levels of the tower. Turgon found he did not care much. He feared Mandos not, and neither did his household, and they would meet again very soon there, after all.
Beside him, Maeglin tilted his body ever so slightly, so that he could lean against Turgon. He smiled. If he had to die here, locked in his own tower, then comforting his nephew in his final moments felt like a very good use of the time he had left.

alright shannon, the neverseen's plan once again makes no fucking sense and relies way too much on plot convenience rather than actual planning!
the ogre peace summit only happened because sophie and co flooded ravagog and the ogres lost, which the neverseen weren't planning on having happen. they planned for sophie and co to try to break in to steal the "cure" (actually the plague) and release it on the gnomes living in the lost cities, but they weren't planning for them to actually succeed at getting away (shown by fintan and brant trapping them and planning to take them to their hideout)
gethen got captured before this had even become a thing, meaning there was never any guarantee that there would be a peace summit during which he could escape and humiliate the council
once again, nobody would tell gethen that there was even going to be a peace summit. he realistically would not even know that that's a thing that is happening. and peace summits aren't planned events. they only happen whenever a treaty needs to be brokered. so there is no way he would've known when it was happening, or that it was happening at all. and he's not telepathically gifted enough to transmit long distances, because he's not sophie
all this to say, the neverseen's plan seems cool and smart, but once again, shannon relies way too much on plot convenience and further examination shows that it makes no fucking sense
